For the months of April-June Delilah Reed will showcase her work at the Mulberry Arts partner gallery located inside of the Meritrust Credit Union downtown office at 151 N. Main. Join us for the First Friday opening on April 5 in the main lobby.
Artist Statement:
"In my latest art series, I delve into the rich tapestry of Kansas nature, celebrating its expansive landscapes and intricate details. With a palette of vibrant, joyful colors, I aim to capture the essence of Kansas’ natural beauty, infusing my work with texture and movement that mirrors the dynamic energy of the outdoors.
While I delight in painting specific scenes, my artistic journey also leads me to explore the interplay of color and motion, delving into whimsical floral patterns and bouquets that pay homage to Kansas's beloved wildflowers. Additionally, I take pleasure in studying the native bugs, birds, and blooms that populate our environment, incorporating their unique characteristics into my artwork. Through this series, I seek to convey the awe-inspiring wonder of Kansas's landscapes, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the splendor of its flora and fauna. Each piece serves as a testament to the beauty and resilience of nature, inspiring a sense of connection and reverence for the world around us."
About Delilah:
Delilah Reed is a Kansas-born artist who has dedicated her life to expressing her love for color and nature through her art. Growing up in Wichita, she found inspiration in the landscapes and vibrant surroundings of her hometown. Despite lacking formal training, Delilah's passion for art drove her to become a self-taught artist, honing her skills through experimentation and dedication.
Her work reflects an obsession with capturing the beauty of the natural world, often using bold and vivid colors to evoke emotion and energy. Delilah's artistic journey led her to establish her own art and gift shop, The Loud Cicada, situated in the heart of Revolutsia. Here, she curates a collection of her own creations alongside other unique pieces, creating a haven for art enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Delilah's art not only serves as a reflection of her personal connection to her surroundings but also as a means of sharing that connection with others. Through her vibrant paintings and eclectic creations, she invites viewers to experience the wonder and joy that she finds in the world around her.
