PARK(ing) Day
Turn a blank space into a people place during PARK(ing) Day. Downtown Wichita invites you to participate in this worldwide movement on Friday, September 21, 2018 by transforming one of the parking spaces along Douglas Avenue into a miniature parklet for a day.
Express your business or team's creativity by filling your space with music, artwork, games, seating or anything else that will engage the public. Participants have the opportunity to win a variety of fun awards, which will be voted on by community leaders. Invite your neighbors to discover your business in a unique way during PARK(ing) Day.
Background and History
PARK(ing) Day began in 2005 when an art studio transformed a metered parking space into a temporary park in Downtown San Francisco. Since then, the event has evolved into a global movement, creating new forms of temporary public space in urban contexts around the world. You can learn more about this movement at parkingday.org/about-parking-day.
