Alex Pemberton

Director of Special Projects, Downtown Wichita

As Director of Special Projects, Alex is responsible for devising and implementing placemaking projects designed to catalyze interest and vitality in Downtown Wichita, as well as executing other strategic initiatives. His efforts leading placemaking and tactical urbanism projects in Wichita have been covered in national publications, such as CityLab and NextCity, and have led to his selection as a 2017 Knight Cities Challenge finalist and 8-80 Cities’ Emerging City Champion.

Alex is a Kansas native and Wichitan by choice, holding a bachelor of business administration in entrepreneurship, management, and economics with a real estate emphasis from Wichita State University. Alex is a tireless advocate for expanded opportunities in arts and culture and is actively involved in the community as the lead fellow of the Wichita chapter of the League of Creative Interventionists, founding member of Yellowbrick Street Team, and a member of Young Professionals of Wichita.
