Downtown is a Good Sport

Keep fit and have fun outdoors and in.

Downtown Wichita has fitness and recreational activities to fit your lifestyle. The Arkansas riverfront offers walking, jogging, cycling and scenic views of Downtown’s skyline. Skate parks as well as bike and walk paths offer a wide range of exercise opportunities for residents and visitors.

A new fitness addition to Downtown, the Robert D. Love Downtown YMCA (located at 402 N. Market) has a state of the art workout facility and serves more than 30,000 people throughout the area. Key features of the new Y, completed in December 2012, include an 8 lane competition lap pool, full size gymnasiums, five locker rooms, program studios for martial arts, group exercise, yoga, cycling, multiple racquetball/ handball courts, an indoor track plus much more! Downtown Wichita is also home to many independently owned pilates, yoga and other fitness studios. View map

Rather watch than participate? Take in a Wichita Thunder hockey game, visit the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame, climb aboard the Jayhawk, an International America's Cup Class yacht, donated to the City of Wichita by Bill Koch, or catch a Wingnuts baseball game at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium just across the river. INTRUST Bank Arena also has multiple sporting events throughout the year including OKC Thunder games, the Wichita Wildcat Classic, Arena Motocross, and Professional Bull Riding (PBR) to name a few.
