Window Decorating Contest Helps Downtown Wichita Businesses Celebrate

WICHITA, Kan., June 26, 2026 – Downtown Wichita businesses are showing off their creativity this summer as they transform storefronts for the Fun for the Fourth Window Decorating Contest.

Celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, participating businesses have decorated their windows with patriotic pride, community spirit and creative displays celebrating what makes Wichita unique.

From June 28 through July 11, residents and visitors are invited to explore downtown, view the decorated storefronts and vote for their favorite display. The top three vote-getters will receive cash prizes, with first place awarded $500, second place awarded $250 and third place awarded $100.

"Downtown businesses consistently find creative ways to bring energy and excitement to the district," said Downtown Wichita Executive Director Heather Schroeder. "This contest is a fun opportunity to celebrate our country's milestone anniversary, showcase local pride and encourage people to explore downtown while supporting small businesses."

Participating businesses have created displays ranging from painted windows and patriotic scenes to installations inspired by Wichita's history, culture and global connections. Visitors can vote by scanning the QR code displayed at participating businesses or by visiting the contest webpage: DowntownWichita.org/FunFourth. Community members may cast one vote per day throughout the voting period.

The winners will be announced on Downtown Wichita's website and social media channels on July 13, 2026.
