Downtown Wichita is full of possibilities to build the future and realize the vision set forth in Project Downtown: The Master Plan for Wichita. In 2016, several significant projects were announced and many were completed, delivering strong returns for the community. Four diverse residential properties added 407 units in the district in 2016. The Douglas, an adaptive reuse and infill project in the heart of Downtown was monumental, adding 240 units, some of which feature balconies overlooking Douglas, Downtown’s postcard avenue. Strategic investments in public infrastructure contributed to the momentum, including the renovated Parking at Market & William Garage, Douglas Avenue streetscape improvements and new transit shelters greeting residents and visitors with colorful displays.
